PCOI to record statement from J'pura mayor over Agriculture ministry building

COLOMBO (News 1st):- The Presidential Commission inquiring into financial irregularities at state institutions within the past four years has decided to obtain a statement from the Mayor of the Sri Jayawardhenapura Kotte Municipal Council regarding the building obtained on lease for the Ministry of Agriculture. The statement is due to be recorded at the Mayor's office tomorrow (August 19). The Commission is due to conduct investigations into whether the plan for the said building was approved and if the other legal documents required for the process were also submitted. A letter posted to the commission on the 16th of this month alleged that the construction of the said building used for the Ministry is illegal as there is an ongoing court case regarding the plot of land on which it is built.
