Colombo (News 1st) - Several views were expressed in the political arena regarding the issue of Mahinda Rajapaksa holding the positions as the Leader of the Opposition of the UPFA and the leader of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna simultaneously. Minister of Agriculture, P.Harrison reasoned that a moral decision of Mahinda Rajapaksa would be to resign from his position and then hand it over to some other person in the Podujana Eksath Peramuna like Mahinda Amaraweera, highlighting that it was his personal suggestion. MP of JVP, Sunil Handunnethi emphasized that it was a technical issue. He further reasoned this statement by raising a question of how could Mahinda Rajapaksa who became the leader of the Podujana Peramuna continue as the opposition leader when Podujana Peramuna does not get represented in parliament. He mentioned that the party leaders should meet and take a decision on that.
