4.04 PM: Gotabaya Rajapaksa named as the Presidential candidate of the SLPP 3.29 PM: Mahinda Rajapaksa named the Chairman of the SLPP by Prof. G.L. Peiris at the party's convention Colombo (News 1st): The National Convention of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna commenced at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium a short while ago. The convention began under the auspices of Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa. It has been noted that they will announce their Presidential candidate for 2020 at the convention.
