Colombo (News 1st): Politicians only notice the issues of the general public during elections. They only tend to look for solutions on the face of a protest. Our Gammadda teams visited the people across the island and visited certain villages unspotted on the Sri Lankan map.
Gammadda is prime evidence for the unseen, unheard struggles of the people. So, Gammadda is valued by all religious leaders. The fourth edition of the Gammadda door-to-door program concluded yesterday (August 9).
This was after covering 25 districts for 23 days in search of hardships faced by the citizens of our country. Bringing another Gammadda door-to-door edition to an end, our team today (August 10) paid homage to the Malwatte Maha Viharaya.
Dr Thilak Bandara of the Peradeniya University, Group Director of the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited Chevaan Daniel and other representatives from News 1st were present at the occasion. The group then visited the Anunayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Venerable Vedaruwe Upali Thero and obtained blessings.
Speaking to the group Anunayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Venerable Vedaruwe Upali Thero noted that it is very important that there is an involvement of the university students in this program. He said they can see that the current situation in the country is not exactly a bed of roses. He noted that it should be highlighted that the Gammadda teams go to the heart of the villages and reveal the unseen side of this country and these teams take certain measures to correct these problems.
The Thero noted that when the responsible authorities are turning a blind eye on the problems of the people a media organization draws the attention of the country to the problems faced by the people. He bestowed blessings upon this Gammadda door-to-door teams and noted that by highlighting the problems of the people who do not have anyone to help them the Gammadda teams are gaining a lot of merit.
Another Gammadda team visited the Anuradhapura Atamasthanadipathi Venerable Dr Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero and obtained blessings. Thereafter the Gammadda teams paid homage to the historical Sri Maha Bhodi.
Our Gammadda teams touring the North-Eastern district in search of the voiceless concluded the fourth phase of the Gammadda door-to-door program by paying homage to the Nallur Kovil in Jaffna.
