Private members motion to abolish capital punishment challenged at supreme court

COLOMBO (News 1st): Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ananda Kumarasiri today (August 9) said that the private members' motion presented to parliament to abolish the capital punishment has been challenged at the Supreme Court. Speaking at parliament he further said that the copies of the three petitions submitted to parliament calling for the abolishment were received by the speaker.
