Maithri Guneratne is new Uva Governor; Keerthi Tennakoon is new Central Province Governor

Colombo (News 1st): New Governors appointed for three Provinces took their oaths before President Maithripala Sirisena today (August 5).
  • Keerthi Tennakoon, who resigned from the post of Governor of the Southern Province yesterday (August 4), was sworn in today as the Governor of the Central Province.
  • Maithri Gunaratne who resigned from the post of Governor of the Central Province the day before yesterday was sworn in today as the Governor of the Uva province.
  • Hemal Gunasekara has been appointed as the Governor of the Southern Province.
In addition, two State Ministers were sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s officials residence.
  • Anoma Gamage was sworn in as State Minister of Petroleum Resource Development.
  • And Higher Education has been added to State Minister Lucky Jayawardana's portfolio. He was sworn in as the State Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education.
