Fishing communities warned to refrain from faring out to sea

COLOMBO (News 1st): Issuing a weather advisory, the Department of Meteorology requests the Naval and fishing communities in the Northern and Central regions close to the Bay of Bengal to refrain from engaging in fishing activities till the 9th of this month. The department states that the wind speed in these regions could at times increase up to 70 - 80 kmph. Further, the sea area extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar and the sea area extending from Potuvil to Batticaloa can be rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to (60-65) kmph at times.
