New drug rehabilitation center for addicts at Kotikawatta

Colombo (News 1st): The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board has taken steps to launch a Rehabilitation centre for Drug Addicts in the Western Province. Chairman of the board Prof. Sampath Abeysinghe said that this centre which will be based in Kotikawatta will facilitate rehabilitation for drug addicts, both in-house and externally. He added that the rehabilitation centre will be opened within the next few weeks. The majority of drug addicts in the country live in the Western Province. The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board noted that among them are 63,000 heroin addicts, 100,000 cannabis addicts, and 13,000 pill addicts.
