Ali Roshan and 7 others released on bail

Colombo (News 1st): The Permanent High Court Trial at Bar today (August 2) ordered to release on bail 08 accused including well-known elephant trafficker Niraj Roshan alias Ali Roshan. A case was filed against the 08 accused under 36 separate indictments for the illegal possession of 05 elephants. Each of the accused was ordered to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two sureties of Rs. 05 million each. The case was taken up before Justices Vikum Kaluarachchi, Dhammika Ganepola, and Adithya Patabandige. Notably, Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara appearing for the Attorney General did not raise objections to bail being granted to the defendants. He informed court approval was granted for bail based on a special request made by the defence counsel from the Attorney General. The case will be called up again on August 30th.
