University Trade Union Joint Committee launches a strike

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The University Trade Union Joint Committee has engaged in a strike due to several demands. The co-chairperson of the committee Dhammika Priyantha has stated that they have 11 demands including, resolving of salary anomalies, the increment of MCA allowance, implementation of an open examination when recruiting employees for the universities, update of the loan scales. When News 1st reached UGC over the matter, the chairperson, Professor Mohan de Silva noted that they have already notified the Finance Ministry regarding the issues.
