"I agree our government had many shortcomings" - Prime Minister

Colombo (News 1st): Speaking in Avissawella today (July 23) regarding the formation of a new alliance headed by the UNP Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe noted that they must register as a new alliance as a political party while maintaining the identity of their political parties. He noted that all proceedings of this alliance have been concluded and that it has been named the National Democratic Front and it will be officially formed on August 5th. The Premier said they will be the main shareholders of this new alliance, however, it will not be limited to them. PM Wickremesinghe added that any individual or organization can join them, however, they want this alliance to grow. He stated that they hope to contest the upcoming presidential and general elections as an alliance, driven by policies and noted that they are currently in the process of formulating them. He agreed that their government has had many shortcomings and the ideas of the general public have changed. He said political leaders and the government are being questioned over the future of this country, therefore, they must all join together, and as one alliance to build the country during the next five years.
