Postal workers go on sick leave; public inconvenienced

COLOMBO (News 1st): The daily activities of the postal department has been severely affected following the launch of a ‘sick-leave’ trade union action based on several demands including the issues in the recruitment process. According to our correspondent, the main post office in Higurakgoda,Polonnaruwa was closed due to the ongoing trade union action while the people who came to obtain Samurdhi benefits in Hatton were also inconvenienced. The employees at the Anuradhapura Postal office reported to work but refrained from engaging in any work.
