COLOMBO (News 1st) - There is confusion over the maximum retail price of bottled mineral water. News 1st has received details of confusion over the controlled price of bottled mineral water sold in hotels and restaurants. Due to the lack of a proper policy at the Consumer Affairs Authority, this has extended to all eateries where water is served. Selling bottled mineral water above MRP would attract monetary penalties and jail terms for the management of hotels and restaurants. It must be noted that when hotels and restaurants serve food and beverages, they also render their value-added services which include several other facilities. As this matter is currently in litigation, News 1st has filed this report for the attention of the people.
