Colombo (News 1st): UPFA MP Susil Premajayantha noted that 4 years ago, 6 acres of DCC was taken over by the Ministry of Justice to build the House of Justice consisting 42 courts and with full facilities. He added that the plans have been drawn and the estimation of that project has been done already and that it will take 3 and a half to 4 years to complete this project and the total cost stands at Rs. 18 billion. This revelation was made by MP Susil Premajayantha at a meeting held in Wennappuwa. He went onto note that Paskaralingam who is from the Economic Committee led by the Prime Minister brought down an investor to invest in this and currently the court complex is going to be built using investment of US$ 100 million. The parliamentarian said this is going to be given away according to the B.O.D method and after this is completed being built according to this method, Sri Lanka has to pay Rs 200 million every month for the next 20 years. He added that looking at the calculations, only Rs 18 million will be the cost for the completion of this project but, Sri Lanka has to pay Rs 45 million. MP Premajayantha pointed out that this is the plan presented by this Government to build this court complex. He noted that he questioned the Minister of Justice as to why this is being done when he met her in the Parliament. He added that if Rs. 4 billion is allocated a year, this project can be completed in 4 to 5 years. He said one thing is they are not aware of this subject and the other thing is, there is always an intention of seeking a commission from all this, otherwise why would the construction of a court complex be given to an investor?
