Attorney General requests Chief Justice to appoint justices into Rathupaswala shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Attorney General, Dappula De Livera has requested the Chief Justice to appoint a bench at the Permanent High Court Trial at Bar to examine the shooting at Rathupaswala in 2013. During a protest by locals in Rathupaswala, security forces opened fire killing three people and injuring 40 others. Shots were fired when locals were protesting against the contamination of water sources in the area from the waste disposed by a local factory. Three soldiers suspected of opening fire were arrested by the CID on an earlier occasion.
