Former Defence Secretary and IGP granted bail

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Former Secretary of Defence Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara who was sent on compulsory leave, have been released on bail. The duo was released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne on a surety of Rs. 500,000 each. Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department on the 2nd of this month. The Attorney General instructed the acting Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickremeratne to name IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando as suspects over the 04/21 attacks for neglecting their duties and responsibilities.
