No more race or religion oriented parties-National Elections Commission

COLOMBO (News 1st) - National Elections Commission has decided to not register any religion and race-oriented political parties. Director-General of the commission, Saman Rathnayake noted that this decision was made taking into consideration various issues that can arise politically, religiously and socially by the establishment of racist and biased political parties. According to the National Elections Commission, parties that have already been established based on religious and race-oriented principals are under the process of renaming their parties.
