No confidence motion to oust the government: JVP begins "Paada Satana"

COLOMBO (News 1st): The protest march organized by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna to mark their no-confidence motion against the government commenced in Kalutara this morning (July 7). The protest march titled " Paada Satana" was organized to oust the government that sacrificed the nation's security, commenced from the Kalutara City Center. A group including the leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, members of the party's central working committee and trade union activists affiliated to the JVP took part in the protest. Speaking during the protest, the leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that they have brought forward a no-confidence motion and that they aim to gather people also in support of it. He further said that they hope to debate the no-confidence motion on the 10th and the 11th of July and that they hope to win the motion in order to defeat the government. He added that what they are trying to do through it, is to give the people an opportunity to appoint a new government. The protest march reached Moratuwa via Wadduwa this afternoon (July 7). The march concluded following a public meeting in Moratuwa. The protest march will travel from Moratuwa to Nugegoda tomorrow (July 8) and a rally is also due to be held in Nugegoda at 3.00 in the afternoon.
