Welgama leaves Badulla SLPP electorate

COLOMBO (News 1st): A ceremony to felicitate MP Kumara Welgama who was removed from the SLPP district leadership was held in Badulla today (July 6). Speaking at the event, UPFA MP Kumara Welgama says that he is not an individual who obtained the membership of the SLFP as a new member, but that he was there from back then and was supporting the Pohottuwa while being a member of the SLFP. He further said the debate on the US is of much concern. He said that the families of the members their party's chief organizers are in the US and that they talk ill of the US. He also questioned the people if these leaders will stand against the US when they come into power. He also said that some speak publicly of them withdrawing their US citizenship or speak of showing their displeasure towards the US empire while their families pay visits to the same country. Welgama urged the people to not vote to those who mislead you. He added that according to seniority basis that he comes in third in the JO and questioned why a person wearing the national costume cannot be put forward as the Presidential candidate.
