COLOMBO (News 1st) – President Maithripala Sirisena stated it is disappointing to note several senior administrative personnel acting with negligence in connection to the National Language Policy. He said he is aware of presentations and hand-bills prepared for the Northern part of the country in Sinhala.

President Maithripala Sirisena made this statement addressing the official language day ceremony held at the BMICH. Official Language Policy Implementation Week was launched from 1st of July to July 5th with the objective of implementing the Official Languages Policy effectively.

Minister of National Integration, Official Languages, Social Progress and Hindu Religious Affairs, Mano Ganeshan presented the Language Audit Report contributed by the United Nations to the President at the event.
