UPDATE : Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara arrested

Colombo (News 1st): Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that a group of CID officials arrested former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, who was earlier admitted to the National Hospital. Meanwhile, IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who is on compulsory leave, was arrested by CID officers at the Police Hospital in Narahenpita. Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara failed to appear before the CID today after being hospitalized. They were summoned before the CID to record statements regarding the April 21st terror attacks. Meanwhile, Colombo Chief Magistrate, Lanka Jayaratne ordered Hemasiri Fernando who was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital to be remanded again till tomorrow (July 3) following his inspection at the Hospital. The suspect is still receiving treatment at the National Hospital under the supervision of the prison officers. The Chief Magistrate ordered further details about the health of the suspect to be reported to the courts tomorrow.
