Bus veers off into 15m deep precipice

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two people died and two others were injured when a mound of earth collapsed in Pothupitiya, Rakwana. Police said the earth slip had buried a group of people who were excavating the land to make a school building. The injured are receiving treatment at the Pothupitiya Hospital. Meanwhile, 28 people were injured in a bus accident in the Wee Oya watta area in Yatiyantota. The police said the bus had fallen into a 15-meter precipice. The injured are receiving treatment at the Karawanella Hospital. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. The SLTB bus was travelling from Pelampitiya to Avissawella when the accident occurred.
