Colombo (News1st) – The travel advisory level for Sri Lanka issued by the US State Department has been downgraded from level 3 to level 2. The State Department’s travel advisories are categorized as follows.
The Level 2 alerts for Sri Lanka which came into effect on Monday (June 24) urges US citizens to exercise increased caution when traveling to Sri Lanka. It adds that the Department has lifted the ordered departure status of family members of U.S. government employees under the age of 18, as well as the authorized departure status of non-emergency U.S. government employees and family members.
The alert also states that terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets, shopping malls, government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, major sporting and cultural events, educational institutions, airports, hospitals, and other public areas.
