150 Welikada inmates transferred to Boossa and Angunukolapelessa Prisons

COLOMBO (News 1st) - One Hundred and fifty inmates from the Welikada Prison were transferred to the Boosa and Angunukolapelessa prisons. Commissioner General of Prisons J.W.Tennakoon informed News 1st that 69 out of them are death row prisoners. He said the transfer was made taking in to account the renovations taking place in the prison cells which hold death row inmates at the Welikada Prison. The group of prisoners will be brought back to the Welikada Prison in a month. Commissioner General of Prisons J.W.Tennakoon added a Special Security arrangement is in place at the Boosa and Angunukolapelessa Prisons.
