CCTV will not compensate for national security-Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister Lakshman Kiriella met with the Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter of the Siam Sect, Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero today(June 24). Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero noted that CCTV installation in the temple premises would not be required if the government eradicated the terrorist cells and despite government's claims that the ISIS suspects are apprehended, His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith claims otherwise. The Thero also inquired about the investigations into Batticaloa campus which was granted over Rs. 3000mn from overseas and Minister Lakshman Kiriella noted that the donors were revealed at the Parliamentary Select Committee. The Thero finally noted that whoever they are they should be punished in a transparent manner. Following the discussions, CCTV systems were granted to the Malwatte and the Asigiriya temples and the official residence of the Bishop of Kandy by the Ministry of Kandyan Heritage and Kandy Development.
