COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Presidential commission appointed to look into fraud and corruption in state institutions during the past 4 years has issued summons on a manager in a state bank requesting to provide a statement to police regarding the Batticaloa campus.
The commission said the objective of it is to ascertain details regarding the Batticaloa Campus account which is maintained in the above state bank. The manager of this bank is to attend the commission on June 26th 2019.
Earlier, the manager of the remittance section of the bank’s head office, W.G. Janak Prasanna provided a statement regarding this account. According to him, no foreign loans were obtained by the account.
However, a statement made at the Presidential commission by former governor of the Eastern province, M.L.A.M Hizbullah revealed that the account received a certain foreign loan.
The Presidential commission noted that further investigations are underway.
