COLOMBO (News 1st): Addressing a public rally in Matara JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that when the information regarding the CBSL bond scam was revealed at the PCOI that President Sirisena had returned from Dimbulagala to Colombo immediately.
He further said that when the President had immediately made a visit to the CBSL that the Prime Minister and Arjun Mahendran were both standing at the entrance to welcome him. Dissanayake said that the same level of effort applied by the Prime Minister to protect the CBSL was not put in to protect the security of the public.
He also said that the security of the people of this country should not be handed over to the leaders of this country because when there was a threat of another attack after the 04/21 attack that the Prime Minister was asked to leave Colombo and he did it. He claimed that although they allocate funds to import bullet-proof vehicles for the opposition leader who has two characters in his body; one being the former President and another being the opposition leader, and although they spend Rs. 100 million to renovate the official residence of Minister Kabir Hashim using public funds that the main issues are not given due concern.
As claimed by Minister Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Rs. 100 million worth of funds to renovate Minister Kabir Hashim's official residence, was allocated through the supplementary estimate that was presented to parliament on Tuesday.
Minister Lakshman Kiriella who initially stated that the funds were not allocated for him, made the following statement in Parliament the day after Minister Kabir Hashim was re-appointed to his ministerial portfolio. He had claimed that as the Minister of Public Enterprises that he did not obtain any house and had instead lived in his own house. He added that the house was obtained by Minister Kabir Hashim when he served as the subject minister.
