President vows not to change decisions regarding the environment

COLOMBO (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena states that he will not change the decisions he took regarding the environment despite negative comments. The President made this statement while attending the "Polonnaruwa Buddhi Mandapaya" programme this morning (June 22). He further said that many laws have been activated both directly and indirectly to eradicate the massive environmental destruction including deforestation, sand and rock mining. President Sirisena mentioned that the sand and rock mining is one of the most corrupt businesses in the country at present. He added that he introduced many laws to combat the irregularities carried out by these illegal businesses within the last four years.
