COLOMBO (News 1st) – The working committee of the United national party has discussed the possibility of appointing Patali Champika Ranawaka as the electoral organizer of Maharagama and appointing Vijith Vijayamuni Soyza as the organizer of the Katana Electorate.
The working committee convened on Wednesday (June 19) under the party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, deputy leader Sajith Premadasa, General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
Ranjan Ramanayake, State Minister of Highways and Road Development speaking to reporters noted that ministers Champika Ranawaka and Vijith Vijayamuni De Soyza should be rewarded for their services for the party. Minister added that Lucky Jaywaradena was also considered at the meeting. Commenting on the Presidential election, Ramanayake stated that they have plenty of candidates that can come forward to contest.
Daya Gamage, Minister of Primary Industries and Social Empowerment noted that they would form a united national front to face the presidential election and they would decide a proper candidate when the time was right.
