COLOMBO (News 1st) – The National Crafts Council convened a media briefing yesterday(June 19). The event was attended by the officers of the National Crafts Council and several local handicraftsmen.
Buddhika Pathirana, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce noted that it was their duty to form laws and policies to encourage handicraftsmen without hidden agendas. He also noted that it did not matter how long a person would hold office and it was to serve the citizens of the country even if it was a for a brief period of time.
He went on to note that if what they introduce are accepted by the successive governments, they would continue to carry on the practice as well.
