Over 4000 conch shells nabbed in Talaimannar

COLOMBO (News 1st) -SL Navy apprehended a suspect transferring conch shells by illegal means in Talaimannar. A group of naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Division had intercepted a cab travelling from Talaimannar to Pesalai at the Talaimannar roadblock and apprehended a suspect transporting 1,645 conch shells in the vehicle. After further interrogation, naval personnel found another 2,372 conch shells from the house of the suspect. The suspect is a 51-year-old resident of Pesalai. Navy handed over the suspect and the conch shells to the Assistant Director of the Mannar Fisheries District office for legal processing.
