COLOMBO (News 1st): President Maithripala Sirisena has invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for a visit to Sri Lanka in the near future.
The President's media division states that the invitation was made during the meeting between the two heads of state at the 5th Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and other factors important to the region. The PMD further said that discussions were carried out on the manner to deal with the US tariffs imposed on the Russian products imported to Sri Lanka.
