One dead, another severely injured in an accident in Kiyulayaya

Colombo (News 1st): One person died following an accident that occurred in the Kiyulayaya area in the Siyabalanduwa police division. The accident occurred at around 3.30 AM today (June 14) when a lorry transporting vegetables from Welimada to Kalmunai fell into a culvert. The driver of the lorry died following the accident while his assistant sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Siyabalanduwa Base Hospital. The victim was a 49-year-old resident Welimada. Police suspect the cause of the accident was due to the driver falling asleep at the wheel, further investigations are currently underway.
