Colombo (News1st) –  Sirasa TV the pioneer in Sri Lankan television, celebrates its 21st anniversary today.

Sirasa TV took to the airwaves in 1998, bringing a host of new experiences to TV audiences across the country. Since its inception, which has become a major milepost in the history of Sri Lankan television, Sirasa TV has gone on to win the hearts and minds of Sri Lankans young and old.

From entertaining the public through local and international TV serials to informing them through contemporary political programs Sirasa TV has amassed a massive audience. The channel also has the distinction of being the first to introduce the reality TV genre to the country.

Over the past 2 decades, Sirasa TV has truly become part of the family for millions of Sri Lankans, sharing in both their joys and sorrows.

Inline with the 21st anniversary Sirasa TV also commenced a national tree planting initiative. The initiative was conducted in the Wariyagala, Peradeniya over the weekend and will be held in Rangala, Teldeniya on the 22nd and the 23rd of this month.
