Two footboard travellers die as bus hits culvert in Kadugannawa

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Two people died after the footboard of a bus was crushed in an accident in Pahala Kadugannawa in Mawanella this morning. Police stated the driver of a Sri Lanka Transport Board bus travelling from Colombo to Kandy had lost control and hit a culvert beside the road. Police added the front footboard was crushed and the conductor and a passenger on the footboard had fallen off the bus. Although the victims were rushed to the hospital they succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the bus was arrested over the accident.
