Kurunegala Doctor: Report to be handed over to Kurunegala court

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Over 539 complaints have been made against the controversial Kurunegala doctor Seigu Shihabdeen Mohamed Shafi. The Kurunegala Teaching Hospital has received 40 complaints yesterday. Out of the total complaints 477 complaints were made to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital while 62 complaints were made at the Dambulla Hospital. The interim report of the Health Ministry appointed Committee to Investigate Dr Shafi will be handed over to the Health Secretary today(June 03). Police stated that statements have been recorded from over 100 people including obstetricians, gynaecologists, nurses, interns and mothers with regard to the conduct of Dr Shafi. It was reported a detailed report of the investigations conducted so far is to be presented before the Kurunegala court. Initially, CID arrested Dr Shafi on May 24th due to the assets worth Rs 400mn accumulated by him.
