Zahran update: Kalmunai coordinator coughs up valuable information

Colombo (News 1st): Money and equipment suspected to have been used by Mohommad Zahran who is behind the 04/21 terror attacks were discovered today (May 31) in Palamunai, Akkaraipattu. Speaking regarding the discovery Police media spokesperson noted that on the 22nd the police arrested an individual who was the Kalmunai coordinator for Mohommad Zahran. He noted that they were able to find Rs. 3.5 million at the residence of the wife of the suspect located in Palamunai, Akkaraipattu. He said more hidden money of Rs. 5 million was found following the arrest of the suspect. He went onto note that officers at Ampara Police Division were able to discover a laptop in the Palamunai lagoon based on the information received from the suspect following interrogations and with the assistance of the officials of intelligence units. SP Gunasekara stated that the laptop is currently under Police custody and that it has been revealed through investigations carried out that this has been used by Zahran. Further investigations are underway.
