Islandwide accidents: 4 die including 3 of the same family

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Three people died in a road accident in Sinharagama, Anuradhapura today(May 30). Police stated that a three-wheeler that was travelling from Nochchiyagama to Anuradhapura had collided with a container truck which was travelling in the opposite direction. Three passengers of the three-wheeler including a mother, father and a child of the same family died in the accident. It was reported that the mother and the son had died on the scene while the father died upon admission to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital. The driver of the container truck was arrested for further investigations. Meanwhile, a motorcycle and a lorry collided along the Mahiyangana main road near the Dalukana irrigation tank, Manampitiya today(May 30). A soldier of the Civil Defense Force travelling on the motorbike had sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to the Manampitiya Hospital and was later transferred to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital. Another accident took place as a three-wheeler and a car collided in Hali-Ela, Badulla yesterday(May 29). This accident occurred at around 9.30 pm. The accident was recorded on a CCTV camera nearby.
