India relaxes travel advisory for Sri Lanka

Colombo (News 1st): India, the top source of tourists to Sri Lanka, has relaxed a travel advisory asking citizens to be cautious when travelling to the island but is no longer asking Indians to halt non-essential travel with bans on social media and curfews ending. India's foreign ministry said "Security situation in Sri Lanka is gradually returning to normal with the lifting of curfew & restrictions on social media and the opening of schools. Indian nationals travelling to Sri Lanka are advised to be careful and vigilant." Meanwhile, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs has also updated its travel advisory to Sri Lanka. In an update issued today, the Department of Foreign Affairs advises the travellers to be very vigilant about their personal safety. It also added that the travel advisory cautioned that the political and social tensions are high and they can trigger violent clashes at any time and throughout the country.
