Speaking to the Parliamentarian the Thero noted;
"When the US ambassador came here we questioned her extensively on this matter. The American authorities are operating according to their perspective. On the side of our country the responsibility rests on the competent authorities. But foreign forces including the Americans are exploiting the political disharmony in the country to further their goals in the country. We requested for the final draft of the document as many factions have raised concerns on this matter. She said that the agreement has not been finalized as yet. We said that we will always be on the side of the people of this country. It is true that the United States of America have helped us, but at this decisive time we will always represent this nation and her people. We informed her that we disagree with this. Although we informed our leaders about this time and time again, they have not paid attention to this."
