Leader of the Mahason Balakaya Amith Weerasinghe further remanded

Colombo (News 1st): The leader of the Mahason Balakaya Amith Weerasinghe who was arrested for acting in a manner breaching the peace and reconciliation was further remanded until tomorrow (May 29) by Colombo Additional Magistrate Salani Perera. Personnel from the Colombo South Special Investigations Division informed the court that the suspect is being investigated under the provisions of the Public Security Ordinance and Emergency Regulations for directly or indirectly inciting communal tensions. In addition, detectives informed the court before the unrest in Hettipola on May 14th, the suspect had held meetings in Hettipola and Kandy and made speeches which promote hate. Court ordered detectives to produce a comprehensive report tomorrow in the presence of the defendants on the charges.
