Copper factory workers ordered to appear before TID

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The court ordered today (May 27) to remand Wellampitiya Copper Factory Worker Karuppiah Rajendran alias Abdullah until the 10th of June. The Terrorist Investigations Division(TID) informed court it has commenced an inquiry on the Copper factory workers based on the orders given by the Acting Inspector General of Police. The TID informed court there is information to prove Karuppiah Rajendran alias Abdullah had aided in the terror activities carried out by the banned National Thawheed Jamaath. In addition, police informed the court the suspect had maintained close ties with NTJ leader Zaharan Hashim. Colombo Additional Magistrate, Priyantha Liyanage ordered the 09 Wellampitiya Copper Factory Workers who were granted bail to report to the TID from tomorrow(May 28) to the 01st of June to provide statements and ordered them to once again appear in court on the 10th of June.
