Copper factory investigations handed over to TID

COLOMBO (News 1st) -Investigations regarding the eight employees of the Wellampitiya copper factory, who were released on bail, have been handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division. A senior official said several teams have been deployed to carry out these investigations. Meanwhile, the relevant parties have been informed to appear before the court tomorrow (May 27). This was based in consideration of a motion forwarded by the Wellampitiya police. Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered 9 individuals including the 8 suspects in question to be released on bail on May 6th 2019. The court ordered one of the suspects be further remanded due to the failure to fulfil bail requirements. The Wellampitiya Police arrested the suspects following the discovery that the suicide vests used in 04/21 at eight locations including St. Anthony's Church, Kochchikade were manufactured at the Wellampitiya copper factory.
