Excess harvests, a threat?

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Irrigation Department stated that the "Yala" seasonal cultivations of Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts are a concern due to excess cultivation. Director of the Water Management Unit at the Irrigation Department Wasantha Bandara noted that in the several areas of the three districts that farmers had not heeded the advice of experts and grown crops resulting in excessive harvests.
