Religious leaders from Minuwangoda speak on the recent unrest

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Religious leaders from Minuwangoda convened a media briefing today (May 19) to comment on the recent unrest situations. The Chief Incumbent of the Sri Jayawardenaramaya in Minuwangoda, Venerable Indulgoda Kandhe Chanavasa Thero said that considering all events that took place in the recent past that all communities residing in Minuwangoda had lived in peace and happiness regardless of racial differences. Also commenting on the matter, Tuan Moulavi of the Minuwangoda Jumma Mosque said that the unfortunate situation that has arisen in the country has somehow become advantageous to the terrorists and that they should act patiently and use their intelligence to deal with situations. Meanwhile, Rev. Fr. Nadeera Fernando of the Minuwangoda Catholic Church said that although we speak of co-existence, it does not mean we should be standing by each other and continued to say that instead, it means we should understand each other in depth. He further welcomed the residents of Minuwangoda to rebuild the unity and reconciliation among everyone.
