COLOMBO (News 1st) - Commenting on the U.S. intervention amidst the prevailing situation in the country, UPFA MP Wimal Weerawansa claimed that after studying the report compiled by the Millenium Challenge Corporation situated at Temple Trees that they discovered that the US$ 480 million will only be provided to the country under certain conditions. He continued to say that the money will be received only if the country allows foreigners to purchase lands beyond the borders and allow them to establish an economic corridor from Trincomalee to Colombo harbour. The parliamentarian said that the lifeless government has brought in to pave the way for the US and continued to say that the ISIS attack was also orchestrated for the same purpose. MP Weerawansa claimed that in the midst of all this chaos that Minister Thilak Marapana had left for the US to betray the sovereignty of the country and added that the Prime Minister has begun to agree for everything in order to create the country as a den for US imperialism. Also speaking at the event UPFA MP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said that a similar problem had also arisen in Bangladesh in 2016 where 18 foreigners and two locals had carried out an explosion in a hotel. He further said that all the people involved were students and that the current prime minister was forced to hand over an island to them to establish a camp which was tactfully avoided by the Prime Minister. MP Yapa claimed that at a time where external forces are trying to take advantage of the situation in the country that we should formulate a way to evade the situation. However, the parliamentarian added that the public sees no such effort and that it is solely the incompetency of the leaders that has given rise to such a situation.
