IMF to consider extending fund facility to 2020

COLOMBO News 1st: The International Monetary Fund states that it will consider the request made by Sri Lankan authorities to extend its fund facility till 2020. IMF's director of Communications Gerry Rice claimed that they are deeply saddened and have offered condolences to the authorities and to those affected by the horrific attack on Sri Lanka. He noted that to say that in terms of help that the IMF could grant, they will consider extending the EFF program by one additional year (Until June 2020). However, Rice stated that the extension will be based on the approval of the IMF executive board. Rice added that if the extension is approved by the executive board that it will provide additional time to the authorities to anchor the macroeconomic stability and complete the reform agenda of Sri Lanka.
