COLOMBO (News 1st):  Several parliamentarians commented on the tragic April 21st attacks in parliament today (May 10). UPFA MP Dinesh Gunawardena highlighted the importance of taking steps to remove persons in high ranking positions including the IGP by bringing in a proposal to parliament. He further proposed that the period of emergency regulations should be extended in order to wipe out uncertainty among the public. MP Gunawardena added that the problem not only lies with the tourism industry but that it also lies with other industries too. Also joining the debate the leader of the house Lakshman Kiriella said that although the Eastern University was established under the previous regime that they will look into the matter. In response to his remark, UPFA MP Bandula Gunawardena said that their government had not granted approval for any such university adding that they might have only obtained approval for a vocational training institute.
