Colombo (News 1st): Police media spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara noted that during search operations a suspect's status is irrelevant to them.
Speaking at a media briefing today (May 9), SP Gunasekara went onto note that during the investigations conducted by the CID, the brother and two other associates of the suicide bomber, Alawdeen Ahmed Muad, responsible for the attack on St. Anthony's shrine in Kochchikade, were arrested. He said these three suspects and the other suspects currently held by the CID are being interrogated.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Air Force media spokesperson Group Captain Gihan Seneviratne noted the restrictions imposed on entering and leaving airports have been eased.
Group Captain Seneviratne said this measure was taken following complaints made by passengers who claim they were compelled to walk a long way to various points with their luggage. He noted that as of midnight yesterday (May 8), passengers can enter the departure and arrival areas in their vehicles or rental cars.
