  1. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had warned of a major global threat from foreign fighters fleeing the defeated Daesh terrorist organisation and declared that stopping them travelling should be a high global priority.
  2. The Daily Mirror stated that in Section 121 of the Penal Code of Sri Lanka, it clearly states that “Whoever wages war against the Government of any Power in alliance or at peace with the Republic, shall be punished with imprisonment”.
  3. The Supreme Court ordered to issue notice on former defence secretary Hemasiri Fernando and Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara to appear in court on May 21st.
